Approval of Minutes

Treasurer’s Report:

There was no Treasurer’s report due to Tom’s absence.  The September P&L will be included with next month’s report.

Executive Director’s Report:

Membership Renewals 2017-2018 / 2016-2017 Membership Report 

188 members, 113 paid, 75 unpaid.  7 new members to include:  Allstate Insurance/The John Hawk Agency, Body Moksha Physical Therapy, Brianiac Academy, Escape Room Madison, Jaguar Morris County, JH Personal Training, Professional Physical Therapy & Training, LLC

Back to School Sidewalk Sale Days:

Back to School Sidewalk Sale Days is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7- Saturday, Sept. 9.

Businesses are permitted to put tables out on the sidewalk during business hours.  Balloons will be available at The Madison Pharmacy for businesses to pick up during the sale.  The event was advertised in the Madison News, Madison Marketplace newsletter, Chamber website and through a news release.

Madison Car Show | Bottle Hill Day 2017:

The Madison Car Show & Bottle Hill Day are scheduled for Saturday, October 7.  Madison Tire is the main car show sponsor.  Peter is collecting sponsorships.  T-shirts have been ordered. We need volunteers to help the day of.

Fire Extinguisher Inspection Program:

Fire Extinguisher Inspections are scheduled for Tuesday, October 24 from 12pm-4pm on the corner of Main & Central.

Scarecrows on Waverly- October 19- November 1:

The Chamber will purchase 30 scarecrow forms and invite businesses to decorate a family friendly scarecrow for display on Waverly from October 19-November 1.  The Garden Club of Madison will install the scarecrows & cornstalks on October 19.  Cost for participation will be $30.

Pumpkin Illumination I Truck or Treat - Friday, October 27, 6pm

Families are invited to bring their carved pumpkins to the front steps of the Hartley Dodge Memorial Bldg. where they will be displayed and illuminated at 6:45pm.  Battery operated candles will be provided for illumination.  Pumpkins will be returned to their owners after the event.  

In addition, participants are encouraged to decorate the inside of their car trunks in a creative theme and allow children dressed in costume to trick or treat from trunk to trunk.  Admission will be $10 per car.  All proceeds from the Trunk or Treat event will benefit the Madison Volunteer Ambulance

Corps.

Halloween Parade & Magic Show- Saturday, October 28

Children and their parents are invited to attend a Halloween costume parade followed by a magic show and trick-or-treating in the downtown business area. The events sponsors are Sugar Rush and Woodland Bakery & Café.

The schedule of events is as follows:

12:30pm: The Annual Halloween Parade will start promptly in front of the Hartley Dodge Memorial Bldg., 50 Kings Rd.  Participants will march to Green Village Rd. to Main St. and finish on Waverly Pl. and Lincoln Pl.

1:00-1:30pm: The Joe Fischer Magic Show will be held on the corner of Lincoln Pl. and Waverly Pl.  In case of rain, the show will be held inside the gym at Central Avenue School, 50 Central Ave.

1:30-3:00pm: Children in costume are invited to trick-or-treat through the downtown business district.  Participating stores will display a bright orange and black jack-o'-lantern in their windows. 

Madison PhotoPlus, 40 Main St. has generously offered to take a free photo of each child in their costume.

Nautilus Placemat Program- July-December 2017:  Karen to solicit ad sales beginning in late October, early November.

Senior Discount Program/Age Friendly Business: Karen designed a basic flyer to be placed in the senior centers monthly newsletter.
