Board of Directors Monthly Meeting

Executive Director’s Report:
Membership Renewals 2015-2016:
Renewals and a recap letter on the year were sent via mail. Membership was up overall from the 2013-2014 year. Almost 40% of renewals have been paid for the 2015-2016 fiscal year. There are 16 new members to date for this term. New members since the last meeting are: Madison Yoga & Tai Chi, Mind Your Body, The Hat Shop, and Madison Karate. 4 new applications are in and an additional 4 are pending.
Annual Awards Dinner:
The Annual Awards Dinners was held Tuesday, June 9 at 6:00pm at The Madison Hotel. It was a very successful event with lot of celebration and laughs. There were 77 guests in attendance. There was plenty of coverage in the on-line and print newspapers. The Board agreed in holding it in the same location next year.
Health & Wellness Event:
Health/Wellness & Beauty Event will be held during Farmer’s Market for the duration of the market beginning Thursday, June 4 from 5:00pm-7:00pm. There are 20 weeks. Each week 1-2 businesses will be featured within the market. All but 5 weeks have been filled to date.
Fire Extinguisher Inspections:
The Chamber heldits biannual fire extinguisher inspections on Tuesday, June 16 from 12:00pm-4:00pm. The location for the inspections wason the corner of Central Avenue and Main Street. All inspections wereperformed by the Fire Fighters Equipment Co. Members tagged= 57, non-member tagged=33, Total Units sold= 18. Total Profit= $2,054. Chamber profit= $698. 2014 Chamber profit was $410.
The Chamber’s annual Yankee Game trip is scheduled for Sunday, July 19. Tickets are $95 per
ticket. Price includes: game ticket in the All You Care to Eat Seats & roundtrip transportation from Madison to Yankee Stadium. 19 tickets have been sold to date. Karen will continue to send out the information to the membership.
Nautilus Placemat Program:
20 ads were filled. 70% of the invoices have been paid. Chamber took an ad out promoting Gift Checks. Placemats were delivered 1 ½weeks ahead of schedule.
Shakespeare Theatre Networking Event:
Karen has organized a trip to the Outdoor Shakespeare Theatre on Tuesday, July 21 on the campus of St. Elizabeth. We will see a performance of Love’s Labour’s Lost. Tickets are $28 per person, no additional fees. Information has been sent to the membership.
Auto Show/Bottle Hill Day:
Chamber will have a table at Bottle Hill Day. Karen submitted application. The table will move this year to Kings Road and be adjacent to the main stage and beer garden. Board approved to take an ad for Bottle Hill Day tab in the Madison Eagle.
Taste of Madison:
The Taste Committee met on June 3 to wrap up this year’s event. Danielle presented to Chamber earlier in the week with a $9000 check. Revenues were down from last year but the committee has discussed ways to increase profits for next year’s event. The 2016 Taste of Madison will be held March 7.
Chamber Website/Mobile Site & Advertising:
Karen sent information about the website advertising program with membership invoices. There are 2 new ads for the home page. Karen will call on all current advertisers to see if they would like to renew their ads.
Merchant of the Month:
July merchant of the month is the Madison Area YMCA. The board chose PipeWorks for September, TAPinto for November and Romanelli’s for January. The DDC chose Nicky’s Firehouse for August, Rose City Transmission for October and Madison Discount Tire Center for December.
Madison Loyalty Rewards Card:
There are 402 cards in distribution to date. New Leaf Consignment and Salvatore Minardi lead in Loyalty Reward Card sales.
Madison Executive Gold Card:
No update to date.
Focus on Foot Traffic:
Wednesday, July 1 at 8:30am at Rocco’s Bar & Grill. The July 15 meeting is cancelled due to
participation in the Merck Vendor Fair.
Madison-Chatham Networking Breakfast:
Tuesday, July 14, 8am at Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse.
There will be no Contractor Forum for the month of July & August. The next scheduled
Meeting will be September 17 at 7:00am at the Nautilus Diner.
Merck Vendor Fair is Wednesday, July 15 from 11:00am-1:30pm. 40 tables have been reserved. 36 are Chamber businesses. Karen will organize a Madison basket to raffle off at the event.
John discussed with the board the idea of producing and selling a holiday ornament. Based on the numbers John provided 100 ornaments would cost about $11.20 each (box included). The board agreed to move forward and suggested doubling the order. Karen and John to work on details and design. Ornaments to be delivered and ready to sell at Bottle Hill Day.
There will be no official board meeting scheduled for August. Our next board meeting will be Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 6:30pm at Romanelli’s.
