Businesses and Individuals honored at the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner on Monday, June 5
The Madison Area Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Awards Dinner on Monday, June 5 at The Madison Hotel at One Convent Rd. in Morristown. Awards were given in eight categories at the year end celebration.
One-hundred guests attended the event. The night was filled with good cheer, laughter and friendship. The evening included a dinner buffet, cash bar, door prizes and an awards ceremony that was held in the Victorian Room.

"The Chamber's Annual Awards Dinner celebrates the outstanding achievements of a carefully selected group of distinguished individuals, businesses and community organizations. All of our 2017 honorees have helped to make our business community and Madison shine brightly," said Chamber President John Morris.

In the Business Improvement category, the Chamber honored The Blue Purl, 60 Main St. with the Most Creative Window Award.  Redux: the Restaurant & the Market at Redux, 3 Central Ave., received the Best Innovative Concept Award. The 2017 Best New Building award went to Kienlen Lattmann Sotheby's International Realty, 223 Main St., and St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Rd., received the 2017 Outstanding Building Preservation Award.
The 2017 Appreciation Award honored Short Stories Bookshop & Community Hub, 23 Main St., for all it brings to and shares with the businesses and the community.
"Short Stories has been integral in hosting community events and we want to recognize their dedication and support of the businesses and community of Madison," said Chamber Vice President Danielle Dixon in prepared remarks.
The Chamber 2017 Cornerstone Business Award was presented to Bea Henderson, owner of San Francisco Mercantile, 4 Green Village Rd., for her service, dedication and longevity as a Madison business.
"Bea opened her doors in 1979.  Now, 38 years later, Bea remains an integral part of the fabric, that for decades, has made Madison so charming and unique," said Michael Odell of Odell & Critchley, PC, 333 Main St.
The recipient of 2017 Distinguished Service Award honored long-time Madison resident Lisa Ellis for her substantial contributions to the education system, the businesses and the community of Madison.
"Lisa has tirelessly devoted countless hours to the businesses and community," said Chamber President John Morris.  "She has made great contributions as a manager, liaison, colleague and volunteer. She is the embodiment of the word partnership and she has a true love for the work she does for the businesses and community of Madison."
The much anticipated “Extra Mile Award” is the only Chamber award determined by the general public.  This year honored 2 winners: The Bar Method of Madison, 122 Main St. and Robbin Salmeri of Cleaners Advantage, a full service mobile dry cleaning business, 888-471-7676
"Both of our award winners successfully lead by example and exceed the highest standards of customer service," said the Chamber's executive director Karen Giambra.

"Our honorees delivered thoughtful, enjoyable and touching acceptance speeches and the Chamber Board can't thank them enough for their efforts," said Morris.  "The very memorable night was made possible by our honorees, guests, award presenters, many Chamber volunteers and the event's organizer, Karen Giambra, Chamber's executive director."

The awards were sponsored by Jacquie Dinsmore of TAPInto Madison and the centerpieces were sponsored by Whole Foods Market, 222 Main St. The Madison Pharmacy, 66 Main St. donated the balloons that served as part of the table centerpieces.
